Hazrat Ayesha R.A was born 678 CE and she was third and youngest wife. She is the daughter of Prophet (s.a.w.w)’s companion and khalifa Hazrat Abubakr sadique (R.A). She is the “Mother of all Muslims”, per the description of Prophet’s wives in holy Quran. Hazrat Ayesha (R.A) had an important role in islamic history during Prophet’s life an after HiM (s.a.w.w). She contributed to the spread of Prophet Muhammad’s message and served the Muslims community for 44 years after HIM (s.a.w.w). She is also known for narrating 2210 Hadiths , not just about Prophet’s private life but also on topics such as inheritance etc. Her intellect and knowledge in different subjects , including poetry and medicine were highly praised by her student
Urwa Ibn Al Zubayr.
RELATIONSHIP WITH PROPHET (S.A.W.W):
Hazrat Ayesha (R.A) is described as Muhammad (s.a.w.w)’s most beloved wife after His first wife Hazrat Khadija bint khuwaylid (R.A), who died before the migration to Madina took place. There are several Hadiths and sayings that support this argument. One relates that when a companion asked Muhammad (P.B.U.H), “who is the person you love most in the world?” He (s.a.w.w) responded, “Ayesha.” Muhammad (P.B.U.H) built Aisha (R.A)’s apartment so that her door opened directly into the Masjid Nabwi, and that she was the only woman with whom Muhammad (P.B.U.H) received revelations. Furthermore , Muhammad and Ayesha had a strong intellectual relationship.Muhammad (s.a.w.w) valued her keen memory and intelligence and so instructed His companions to draw some of their religious practices from her.
DEATH OF MUHAMMAD(S.A.W.W):
Ayesha (R.A) remained Muhammad (s.a.w.w)’s favorite wife throughout His life. When He became ill, He began to ask His wives whose apartments he was to stay in next. They all allow Him to live in Hazrat Ayesha’s apartment and Muhammad (s.a.w.w) lived there until death.
After the death of Muhammad (s.a.w.w), Ayesha (R.A) lived more than 50 years in and around Madina. Hazrat Ayesha (R.A) was one of three wives [the other being Hafsa bint umar (R.A) and
Umm salma (R.A)] who memorized Quran. During Ayesha (R.A)’s life many prominent customs of Islam, such as veiling of woman began. Hazrat Ayesha (R.A) became involved in the politics of Early Islam. During a time in Islam when women were not expected , or wanted, to contribute outside the household, Ayesha (R.A) delivered speeches, became directly involved in war and even battles, and helped both men and women to understand the practices of Muhammad (P.B.U.H).
Hazrat Ayesha (R.A) died at her home in Madina on 17 Ramdan (16 July 678). She was 67 years old. Hazrat Muhammad (s.a.w.w)’s companion Hazrat Abu hurairah (R.A) led her funeral prayer after the tahajjud prayer, and she was buried at Jannat ul baqi.
